The Heart Behind the Work
I know how it feels to watch your child struggle with reading.
When my son began learning to read, it didn’t come easily, no matter how hard we tried. We practiced sounds, read books together, and built routines I thought would help. But reading still felt like an uphill climb. The more we pushed, the more discouraged we both became.
He is bright, curious, and eager to learn, but reading didn’t “click.” And the more confused he felt, the clearer he became at expressing it: “This doesn’t make sense yet.”
A Turning Point
With COVID, his Kindergarten started online, and right away, it felt like too much. He was trying, but school felt confusing, overwhelming, and out of reach. I remember when he called the word “computer” puter, and how every small success seemed to slip away the next day.
Even though I had a degree in education and over 15 years of teaching experience at the time, I realized I didn’t truly understand what it takes to learn to read, not in the step-by-step way a struggling child needs. I didn’t know how to close the gaps, and that was hard to admit.
So I dove deep. I researched, I studied, and I immersed myself in the science of reading. I started applying what I was learning not just at home, but in my role as an instructional leader. And slowly, things began to shift. With the right tools, routines, and support, he started to grow.
Does he still struggle sometimes? Absolutely. Learning challenges don’t just disappear, but with the right support, he’s found confidence and success. His reading may not be perfect, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a strong reader. And that’s something I wish more families were told: struggle doesn’t mean failure. With the right tools and support, progress is always possible.
Why I Created READTogether
That experience lit a fire in me. I knew most parents don’t have access to the same training, and yet, they care just as deeply. READTogether Collaborative was created to bridge that gap. To give families the tools, clarity, and support they deserve, without the overwhelm.
No one should have to guess when their child is struggling with reading. For the past five years, that thought has stayed with me: there are other kids out there just like my son. Kids who are trying their best, but need more. And the truth is, without the support we were able to give him at home, his path would look very different today.
That belief, that every family should have the tools to change their child’s story, is what led me to create READTogether Collaborative. It’s a way to make sure every family has access to real support, proven tools, and a clear path forward, because every child deserves the chance to grow into a confident reader.
You don’t have to do it alone. With the right tools and a little guidance, you can support your child’s reading journey, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
Helping Families with the Tools They Need
With over 20 years in education, including 14 years in the classroom, I’ve spent my career helping young readers build strong foundations. I hold a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Literacy, and I’ve completed advanced training in the Science of Reading. Over the years, I’ve supported hundreds of educators and families in understanding how children learn to read and what to do when they struggle. READTogether is where I bring that expertise directly to families, translating research-backed methods into short, effective routines that actually work at home.
The Mission: Literacy Support that Fits
READTogether Collaborative is here to help families feel confident and equipped. We keep it simple. We keep it targeted. And we grow together step by step. Because learning to read shouldn’t be left to chance.
When families feel supported, kids thrive.
And that changes everything!
